Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

PaddleMind ("we", "our", or "us") is designed as a private, local-first pickleball coaching app. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Handle

PaddleMind does not require an account and does not ask for your name or email address to use its core features.

The following categories of information may be handled:

  • Onboarding selections, including skill level, dominant hand, and improvement goal
  • Videos you record or select for shot analysis
  • Locally generated frames, body-pose landmarks, scores, coaching results, evidence images, and useful/not-useful feedback
  • Limited app interaction and operational data
  • Technical and diagnostic information, such as app version, device and operating system details, crash reports, and normalized failure information
  • Purchase and subscription information needed to provide PaddleMind Pro

2. Camera and Photo Library

Camera access is used only to record a short pickleball shot video. Photo Library access is used only to let you select a shot video for analysis. Importing a video does not modify or delete the original item in your Photo Library.

PaddleMind's analysis is visual. The app does not configure audio recording and does not request microphone access.

3. On-Device Video Analysis

All video validation, normalization, frame extraction, body-pose analysis, scoring, and evidence generation run locally on your device. Body-pose analysis is performed with Apple's Vision framework, specifically VNDetectHumanBodyPoseRequest, which runs on the device.

PaddleMind does not use a third-party artificial intelligence service to analyze your content. PaddleMind does not send your videos, images, extracted frames, body-pose landmarks, scores, coaching evidence, or other user content to OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic, or any other third-party AI provider, and does not upload them to PaddleMind or to cloud storage for analysis.

Your videos and the data derived from them, including extracted frames, body-pose landmarks, scores, and evidence images, are not used for model training.

4. Face Data and Biometric Information

PaddleMind does not perform face detection, face recognition, identity matching, facial-feature analysis, authentication, or biometric identification. It does not create or retain facial landmarks, face geometry, face templates, embeddings, or other biometric identifiers.

Body-pose analysis processes only body joints, such as the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles, for shot analysis. A video you record or select may incidentally show the player's face, and a locally retained evidence image may also incidentally show the player's face. No face data is separately extracted from these videos or images.

Videos, images, body-pose information, and any incidentally visible face imagery are processed and retained only on the device as described below. They are not uploaded, not shared with third parties, and not stored on external servers, and they are not sent to PaddleMind, a third-party AI provider, or cloud storage. This information is not used for advertising, tracking, profiling, authentication, identification, or model training.

Storage, retention, and deletion:

  • Temporary working video copies remain inside the app container on your device.
  • Working video copies are removed when the active analysis flow ends where possible. Startup cleanup removes working files older than 24 hours and retains no more than 12 temporary videos.
  • Raw video is not retained as part of analysis history by default.
  • Up to 30 derived evidence images may be stored locally for analysis history.
  • Evidence images are removed as the retention limit replaces older items, or when the app and its data are deleted from the device.

PaddleMind does not currently include an in-app action to delete all local data. Deleting the app removes the data stored in the app container on the device. It does not remove copies that may remain in device or system backups, which are controlled by your device and backup settings.

5. Local Storage and Retention

  • Your onboarding profile and free-analysis usage remain in the app's local storage until the app data is removed.
  • The newest 30 completed analysis summaries are stored locally for recent results, history, and compatible progress comparisons.
  • The newest 30 feedback records and up to 30 derived evidence images may be stored locally.
  • App-owned working video copies are removed when the active flow ends where possible. Startup cleanup removes working files older than 24 hours and keeps no more than 12 temporary videos.
  • Raw video is not retained as part of result history by default.
  • Active-analysis recovery metadata is retained until the analysis completes, is canceled, becomes invalid, or is cleaned up.

Removing PaddleMind deletes the data stored in the app container on the device. It does not remove copies that may remain in device or system backups, which are controlled by your device and backup settings. PaddleMind does not currently include an in-app "Delete all local data" action.

6. Analytics and Diagnostics

We use limited operational events to understand app reliability and improve the coaching experience. These events may include:

  • Selected skill level, dominant hand, and improvement goal categories
  • Shot type, stroke side, capture source, and analysis stage
  • Normalized validation and failure codes
  • Timing measurements and score, confidence, and duration buckets
  • Issue and drill identifiers, useful/not-useful feedback, entitlement state, and purchase events

Analytics and diagnostics are provided by Firebase. Firebase does not receive any of the following:

  • Videos or images
  • Extracted frames
  • Face imagery or biometric identifiers
  • Body-pose landmark arrays
  • Local file paths or names, or Photo Library identifiers
  • Analysis identifiers
  • Coaching explanations or other free-form coaching content

7. Purchases and Subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple, and subscription access is managed with RevenueCat. Apple and RevenueCat may process purchase history, subscription status, product identifiers, transaction information, and an app-specific identifier as necessary to complete purchases and maintain your PaddleMind Pro access.

We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

8. How We Use Information

Information is used to:

  • Provide local shot analysis, coaching results, history, and progress comparisons
  • Personalize coaching language based on your onboarding selections
  • Maintain analysis recovery, evidence, feedback, and free-usage state
  • Understand feature usage, evaluate coaching usefulness, and improve reliability
  • Detect, investigate, and fix crashes and technical issues
  • Apply operational feature settings and remotely disable unavailable shot combinations
  • Process purchases, restore subscriptions, and confirm PaddleMind Pro access

9. Third-Party Services

PaddleMind uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase Analytics – to understand aggregate app usage and engagement
  • Firebase Crashlytics – to collect crash reports and sanitized technical failures
  • Firebase Remote Config – to provide safe operational settings
  • RevenueCat – to manage purchases, subscriptions, and Pro entitlement status
  • Apple App Store – to process payments and manage subscriptions

Firebase and RevenueCat are not used for video analysis or AI analysis. These providers do not receive videos, images, extracted frames, face imagery, or pose-landmark data. They may process only the limited operational, diagnostic, or purchase information required for the functions listed above.

Providers that process information on PaddleMind's behalf do so under their own terms and privacy policies. They are required to protect that information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy and may not use it for purposes unrelated to the services they provide to PaddleMind.

10. Data Sharing and Tracking

We do not sell your personal information, videos, or coaching data. PaddleMind does not use your data for cross-app advertising tracking.

Videos, images, extracted frames, face imagery, and pose-landmark data are not shared with any third party, including Firebase, RevenueCat, or any third-party AI provider. The service providers listed above are not used for video or AI analysis and may process only the limited operational, diagnostic, or purchase information required for their stated functions. Providers processing information on PaddleMind's behalf are required to protect it in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy and may not use it for unrelated purposes.

Limited information may also be disclosed when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. Local data remains subject to the security of your device, operating system, passcode, backups, and any other device-level protections you use. No security method can guarantee absolute protection.

12. Children's Privacy

PaddleMind is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

13. Future Changes to Analysis

Any future feature that uploads media for cloud analysis or model training would require a separate review of consent, retention, deletion, security, and privacy disclosures before it is introduced. This policy will be updated before such a feature becomes available.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
